Patrick (NASB 2)

This silly sea star is SpongeBob's bestest friend.

Patrick is a playable character in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, originating from SpongeBob SquarePants. He was announced in the reveal trailer released on July 27th, 2023.

Moveset[]

Playstyle[]

Patrick is a grappler bait-and-punish character focused on dealing large amounts of damage and brutally punishing any mistake an opponent makes. However, he lacks range and has a mediocre recovery overall.

Light Attacks[]

Wumbo Combo (Neutral Grounded): Spins in place.
Belly Bump (Side Grounded): Bumps his belly forward. His old neutral light in NASB 1. DAMAGE: 15
3 AM! (Up Grounded): Patrick quickly swings a Krabby Patty above his head before eating it.
Toot Laser (Down Grounded): Patrick fires a laser from his pants.
Star Wheel (Dash Attack): A cartwheel attack.
Free Form Jazz (Neutral Aerial): Does a belly pose whilst spreading his arms/legs out.
Side Kick (Forward Aerial): Does a forward kick, akin to his old neutral air in NASB 1.
Tantrum (Back Aerial): Patrick throws a tantrum by padding his legs. Hits multiple times.
Table Flip (Up Aerial): Patrick flips a table, which acts as a constant projectile that bounces along the ground rather than a standard attack. DAMAGE: 8 (Table), 14 (Arms)
I wanna do some kicking! (Down Aerial): A downwards kick attack.

Strong Attacks[]

No! This is Patrick! (Side Grounded): Patrick slams a phone down in front of him.
Gimme That Hat! (Up Grounded): Patrick shakes a coat rack above his head as if he’s choking it. Hits multiple times.
Steel Buns (Down Grounded): Patrick slams butt-first onto the ground while wearing steel buns; letting you avoid low-hanging attacks. He can also land on any platforms close enough to the ground.
I'm Gonna Starve! (Side Aerial): Chomps down, sending Patrick forward a short distance.
Star Spin (Up Aerial): A powerful horizontal spinning attack. Gives a small vertical boost that can help with recovery.
Single Scoop Strawberry Cone (Down Aerial): Patrick wears an ice cream cone and falls toward the ground head-first. You can grab the ledge during this move.

Special Attacks[]

Double Lariat (Neutral): Patrick becomes incredibly muscular and performs a spinning lariat. As of Update 1.3, the move now reflects projectiles.
- Slime Version: The move becomes much larger and gains super armor.
Hugdriver (Side): Patrick gives his opponent a bear hug before leaping into the air and slamming them on the ground. DAMAGE: 15
- Slime Version: The move gains super armor.
I'm Already a Star (Up): Patrick halts in mid-air and flies forward in whatever direction the player is holding. Any opponent in his path is grabbed and thrown. DAMAGE: 12
- Slime Version: The move travels further.
Counter Star Slam (Down): Patrick initiates a battle stance. If he’s attacked during this, he counters by slamming the opponent on the ground three times. If you counter a projectile, you’ll instead dash forward.
- Slime Version: Deals more damage.

Throws[]

Forward Throw: Patrick leans back before tossing the opponent forward with great force.
Back Throw: Patrick performs a German Suplex on the opponent.
Up Throw: Patrick hugs the opponent hard enough to let loose and launch upwards.
Down Throw: Patrick hops in the air before slamming down on the opponent with his Steel Buns, popping them up in the air.

Super Attack: Rock Slam[]

Patrick slams his rock house on the opponent numerous times.

Role in Campaign[]

In the opening cutscene, Patrick is seen with SpongeBob practicing bubble blowing. But just when Spongebob had finished showing Patrick his technique of bubble blowing, a portal emerges after the bubble pops, pulling Patrick in and disappearing, now becoming a mind-controlled opponent falling under the control of Vlad Plasmius.

Patrick is the first mind-controlled opponent encountered in the campaign, and is always fought at Bun Wrestling Ring. When entering the Timeless Stardial as SpongeBob, Patrick can be seen alongside Clockwork after the defeat of King Jellyfish.

Patrick's Super is a reference to when Patrick smashes SpongeBob with his house, thinking he is a spider. The episode is Season 1's "Home Sweet Pineapple".
Patrick's Up Strong attack is a reference to a scene in Season 3's "Squilliam Returns".
Patrick's Neutral Special and Down Special are both references to the Season 2 episode, "The Fry Cook Games". Cone Crash references Patrick diving in a pool of chocolate to look like strawberry ice cream with fudge, while Double Lariat references him turning muscular to fight SpongeBob.

The dance Patrick performs in one of his victory animations, and while listening to the Jukebox, is a reference to a dance animation he does in the Season 3 episode "Idiot Box".

Patrick is the only unlockable fighter in the Campaign who is always fought at a certain stage. In this case, the Bun Wrestling Ring.
Patrick and SpongeBob are the only characters that cannot be fought against other fighters in the campaign.
Patrick and SpongeBob are the only characters to have more than 4 alternate costumes outside of the mind-controlled and ghost clone variants.
Patrick and Mr. Krabs are the 2 characters whose Campaign portraits are mirrored when they're not being played as.
If Patrick watches the universe start getting destroyed, he uses his Happy portrait and animation instead of being scared, his quote was "Wheee hee heee!"
