Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is an platform fighter released on November 7th, 2023 digitally and December 1st, 2023 physically for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. It is a sequel to the original Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl; once again being developed by Fair Play Labs and Ludosity, and published by GameMill Entertainment.
Gameplay[]
Much like the first game, NASB 2 is a platform fighter - the goal is to attack your opponents to raise their percentage (making them fly farther from your attacks) and launch them off the screen; causing a KO. Whoever gets the most KO’s before time runs out (in Time battles) or depletes everyone else’s stocks (in Stock battles) wins.
Compared to the first game, there have been a number of changes and additions to the core gameplay:
General changes[]
- The game uses analogue control rather then digital control; allowing you to walk and run as well as control your speed in the air.
- The rock, paper, scissors mechanic was removed.
- Tap Jump is now available; allowing you to jump by pressing up on the control stick.
- Horizontal attacks were added; with every character now having a neutral grounded attack, side grounded light attack, neutral air, forward air, back air and side special.
- Strong attacks can now be charged for extra strength.
- There are no light or strong dash attacks - only one dash attack per character.
- Rolls and air dodges were added; allowing you to dodge attacks on the ground and in the air.
- There are two types of air dodges; a neutral air dodge that keeps your momentum, and directional air dodges that move you in the desired direction.
- The grab and throw system was completely overhauled.
- You can no longer grab in the air. Conversely, dash grabs have been added.
- You can no longer carry your opponent with you when grabbing them. Instead, each character has 4 unique throw attacks that can only be used on the ground.
- You can no longer grab projectiles.
- A shield now appears when blocking, which breaks after enough damage is done to it, or when you block for too long. When your shield breaks, you are stunned for a short time.
- Parries no longer require holding the control stick in the direction of the attack; you only need to block right before it hits.
- Every character now has three taunts.
Slime Meter[]
The Slime Meter is a mechanic where dealing damage to opponents fills up a meter found below your percentage, which can be expended for a number of unique abilities. These include:
- Enhancing special moves: Uses one bar of meter. Every special move has a more powerful variant that enhances their damage, size, recovery distance, and/or adds new properties.
- Slime Burst: Uses two bars of meter. When launched by an attack, you can instantly cancel your momentum to save yourself from being KO’d, while also knocking away any nearby opponents. It also lets you escape combo attacks.
- Slime Canceling: Uses one bar of meter. Allows you to instantly cancel the end lag of any attack; letting you perform absolutely any other action (another attack, jumping, dodging, etc.). Slime canceling next to an opponent temporarily freezes them in place; allowing for easy combo opportunities.
- Any attack used after a Slime Cancel will be weaker then using it on its own.
- Because of this mechanic, dash attacks can no longer be canceled at will - you must use meter to do so.
- Air dashes: Uses one bar of meter. Allows you to do a quick dash in the air, much like in the first game. While it provides no invincibility, it's much faster, and can be canceled into any attack.
- Super Attack: Uses three bars of meter. A powerful finishing move that does huge damage and knockback to any opponents caught by the initial activation hitbox. Every character has a unique cutscene for their Super, though they all seem functionally identical.
- Slime Taunt: Uses three bars of meter. A slime effect is added to one of your taunts; doing absolutely nothing except disrespecting your opponent.[2]

Trivia[]
- 98% of the game was made entirely from scratch as opposed to being built off of the first game.[3]
- This game was the first in the series to be delayed.
- This game marks the first time a Nickelodeon game with online functionality has cross-play between all consoles.
- The original Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was planned to have this feature added in an update, but it was eventually cancelled due to issues with rights handling.
- The game was leaked in many different ways across the development of the game:
- The game's existence was first leaked in December 2022 through a 4chan thread. Three screenshots were shared, which showcased Danny's new model, Patrick using his Super move, and Squidward himself. Six months later, on June 26, 2023, Cropped-out parts of a supposedly early version of the cover art for the game, (which confirmed Jimmy and Raphael) along with a screenshot of Danny holding a sword (which ended up being Sokka's Sword) were leaked by Twitter user StevenSquareHeaded. The final cover art, albeit with some of the characters blurred out, was shared by the same user a month later, on July 22, five days before the game's official announcement.
- An expanded version of the game's cover art was then leaked, five days after the game's official reveal trailer, by an Amazon UK listing on August 1st, 2023, featuring all the newcomers, who at the time had not been revealed (only Squidward, Jimmy, Raph and Donnie were announced before the leak). Throughout September 2023, multiple things leaked from the game such as renders, screenshots and information about the single-player campaign. All of these were leaked on the Nickelodeon All Star Brawl Subreddit and official Discord server.
- On October 2, 2023, the game was accidentally livestreamed by Twitch streamer "TKbreezy", who was a playtester for the game, for around 30 minutes before being taken down. Despite deleting the original stream, fans were quick enough to record the entire gameplay and share it online. As a result from all of this, all leak discussions were banned from the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Subreddit and official Discord server.
- Throughout October 2023, various DLC content, character renders, music and gameplay have been leaked by various people through a early build of the game.
- A fully playable Mr. Krabs was accidentally added to Update 1.4 and can be accessed by modifying the game files. Renders for the three other DLC characters were also added to the update.
- Voice lines for Rocksteady, Iroh and Zuko have been accidentally added to Update 1.6.
- A fully playable Zuko was accidentally released exclusively on the Xbox Series X and Series S version on April 4, 2024, but was quickly removed.
- To prevent spoilers, all leaked content will only be added once they have been officially announced.
